Flag Costume

Time: 2 hours

Effort: Easy – no sewing required

Materials:

  • Blue sweatshirt
  • White sweatpants
  • White fabric paint
  • Red fabric paint
  • Blue paint to match sweatshirt
  • Wooden dowel from craft store
  • Masking tape
  • Red, white, and blue face makeup
  • Paintbrushes

Instructions: Paint white stars on the blue sweatshirt, and let it dry.

Paint red stripes on the pants, and let them dry.

Tape the dowel across the shoulders of the shirt to resemble a flagpole. Paint the tape to match the blue shirt.

Finally, paint your child's face like the American flag!

Other details: Consider buying sweats one size too big, so that your child can wear layers under the costume to keep warm.

Make sure you start this costume a couple of days before you need it, so the paint has time to dry.
