Skunk Costume

Time: 20-30 minutes

Effort: Almost quick and easy - some sewing

Materials:

  • Black one-piece fleece jumpsuit
  • Faux black fur
  • Faux white fur
  • Wire coat hanger
  • Velcro strip (4 inches)
  • Clear nylon thread and needle
  • Black headband
  • Black and white felt
  • Stiff Stuff
  • Scissors

Instructions: Bend the wire hanger into a skinny diamond shape, breaking off the hook. This will be the tail. Completely cover it with faux black fur. You can either sew the fur on or hot glue it. Sew or glue a white strip of faux fur down the middle of the tail. Sew one half of the Velcro strip across one end of the tail. Bend your tail in the middle to give it a little curve.

Sew or glue a piece of black faux fur to the middle of the front of the jumpsuit. Sew or glue a smaller strip of white down the middle of the black. Sew or glue the other half of the Velcro to the bottom area of the suit. Attach the tail by sticking the two Velcro strips together. Attach the clear nylon thread to the top of the tail and the fur area on the back of the suit, allowing enough length so the tail can bounce when your child walks.

Cut two "ears" out of felt and stiffen with Stiff Stuff. Glue the ears to the headband. Add a small piece of white and black faux fur to the middle between the two ears. Now it's time to go stink up the neighborhood!
